About Me

Hi, I’m Scott, a Christian teacher from the United Kingdom, and the founder of Maths Logos, which I started with the aim of supporting home-educating families.

I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Mathematics, and I have years of experience teaching KS3, GCSE, and A-level mathematics in two UK schools, including an Ofsted Outstanding school. I completed my teacher training at the University of Leicester, where I was awarded the Academic Excellence Award for my dissertation work within my cohort.

During my time in teaching, I also took on leadership roles beyond the classroom, serving as Head of Rowing and Head of Duke of Edinburgh.

My academic journey began with strong A-level results, achieving A*, A*, A*, and A in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics, and finishing as the highest-achieving student in my year. I then went on to study Chemistry at the University of St Andrews, where I also completed mathematics modules, before transferring to Loughborough University and graduating with a First-Class Bachelor of Science degree.

It was during my time as a teacher that God gave me a growing desire to support families who are home-educating their children. As a Christian, I believe that Scripture defines education. Throughout the Bible, we see that Christian education is the responsibility of parents, who may delegate this authority in certain areas. The primary purpose of Christian education is not high grades, nice values, or career opportunities, but that children would come to know God and be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ, growing in godly character.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 ESV

In many secular schools, God is treated as irrelevant in every subject, including mathematics. Yet the truth is quite the opposite: God is Lord over Mathematics, English, Science, and the Humanities!

We offer online maths education for homeschooling families, combining academic rigor with a Christian worldview. We would love to hear from Christian home-educating families—please get in touch.

Our Logo

The fish symbol, known as the Ichthys, has been used by Christians since the early church. Its Greek letters form a confession: “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour.”

The word logos is a Greek term meaning divine reason or creative order, and is translated as Word in John’s Gospel, where John uses it to describe the person of Jesus Christ:

In the beginning was the Word (Greek: Logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 ESV

Scott tutored my daughter last year for her GCSE maths. My daughter is dyslexic and has discalcula and has always struggled with her Maths. Scott started in the Feb ahead of the summer GCSE exams and our daughter responded really well - she improved significantly with Scott’s help and achieved a Grade 4 in her exam, something which had seemed a long way off in the February. I would thoroughly recommend. When I asked my daughter how Scott had helped she said “he’s just a really good teacher and explained things in a way I could understand”.

Over two years, Scott supported our son with GCSE Maths and the progress he made was excellent. Scott is always punctual, communicates excellently, and is genuinely kind and approachable. As a qualified maths teacher, his professionalism and commitment were evident throughout, and we are extremely grateful for the positive impact he had. Thanks to Scott’s support, our son has developed a strong interest in higher-level maths and engineering and is now confident tackling both basic and advanced problems independently. We would not hesitate to choose Scott again or recommend him for future maths support for our daughters.

Scott gives very detailed explanations, takes time with every question, and is very patient. Overall, I would recommend Scott to anyone looking for high level tutoring, due to his strong subject knowledge but also his natural teaching skills. I believe that anyone who chooses him as their tutor will not regret it.
